FUJI STAR, PASUMA TAKES MUSIC TO CHURCH ON 48TH BIRTHDAY

Now that he is closing in on 50 as he turns 48 today, 27th November, 2015, has Fuji music mega superstar, Alhaji omo Alhaja, Baba Alhaja, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, the Ijoba and Oga Nla of Fuji, decided to dump his Islamic faith for Christianity? Definitely not. The last time we checked, the Anobi Omole is still a Muslim he has always been.

So how has he taken music to Church on his 48th birthday and not Mosque? It is definitely not what you are thinking. The Omo Iyawo Anobi has only figuratively taken music to Church with the style with which he waxed his latest single featuring Yoruba hip hop artiste, Q-Dot and titled: "#Olohun Oje."

The song which surfaced on you tube on the eve of Pasuma's 48th birthday is delivered in Cherubim and Seraphim style both in lyrics and percussion and one can say without fear of contradiction that the Commander-in-Chief of Fuji music has taken music to Church to mark his birthday.

ACE BROADCASTER, ABBEY FAGBORO SET TO BE INSTALLED "ODOKA" OF ERIJIYAN EKITI

His voice is very discernible on air. And that distinction owes partly to his intonation and not just the brilliance of his presentation. High Chief David Abbey Fagboro (JP), a popular freelance broadcaster is a very proud Ekiti man. And the leading independent presenter carries the identity of his native land in his voice just like some people from the countryside demonstrate theirs in their tribal marks. So, any time the resourceful media guru who presents mostly on radio is on air, he does not need much introduction before knowing it is him.

The MD/CEO of Abbey International Communication, a contemporary of late Gbenga Adeboye who is a well respected media figure amongst the flock of his younger colleagues in the freelance media business is about to add a new feather to his cap. And his well-deserved honour is coming from the source for a true son of the soil.

Come December 11th, 2015, distinguished monarch, the Olohan of Erijiyan Ekiti would officially be conferring a lofty title of "Odoka" of Erijiyan Ekiti on the presenter of a very popular Sunday morning Christianity-based thought-provoking programme, "L'owuro Sunday" on Faaji 106.5 F.M., Lagos between the hours of 7 and 10 am every week. Consequently dubbed the General Overseer (G.O) on the radio due to the very wide and inter-religious listenership and acceptance of the programme, Abbey Fagboro has reportedly set machineries in motion to receive his new title in a glamorous way.

With almost all his co-members of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters' Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) getting set to storm Erijiyan Ekiti with him on the day, one can predict the event would be the talk of the town when held.

Interestingly, some of the witty members of the association who present programmes on different radio stations across the South-West have started making malapropism out of Abbey Fagboro's new title by calling it "Odoko" instead of "Odoka". But funnily enough, "Odoko" which simply means a "promiscous woman" is only a Yoruba “vulgar” attribution suitable for a woman not a man like Abbey Fagboro.

We wake up daily, hoping to see him return to the house and since we have exhausted all we could humanly do, we are relying solely on God to miraculously help us out. Apart from the widows, I also gave out gifts items to so many of my fans who have been part of my progress in music.”

He also said youth empowerment scheme would also be introduced to get the young and talented ones fully engaged.

2 YEARS AFTER LEAVING ISLAMIC ARTISTE WIFE, MARIAM AQEEQY, POPULAR DRUMMER, OLUPERI REMARRIES SECRETLY

Like in the case of any parted couple determined never to reconcile, the irreconcilable differences between celebrity drummer, King Sunday Nurudeen Balogun better known as Oluperi, the lead drummer with Fuji music star, Saheed Osupa, and his estranged wife, Alhaja Mariam Aqeeqy Balogun, a talented Islamic artiste, have further taken an acute no-going-back turn two years after. What is he thinking? What if there is an accidental discharge from that pistol? What do you think would have happened to the beautiful lady? Thank God pretty Foluke Daramola Salako would not have been taken as an accomplice because she does not seem to see the gun herself. But the good news is that there was no accidental discharge and the unsuspecting lady finally went home in one piece.

HOW ODUNLADE ADEKOLA BECAME A BIG BRAND

A man may be bearing Odunlade and another may be answering Adekola, but when the two names are brought together to always function like one, then that refers to just one person. A very popular actor, Odunlade Adekola is a house-hold name among Yoruba movie lovers in Nigeria and even beyond. Hence, at the risk of sounding exaggerative, if per-chance, somebody else has the combination of his two names as theirs, they'll have to contend with bearing the name in the shadow of the consummate role-interpreter because his is no longer just a name but a big brand in the entertainment fiefdom.

As a matter of fact, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to mention the names of those in the vanguard of dictating the pace in the Yoruba movie industry today without the name of the tall and good-looking Abeokuta, Ogun State, based thespian popping up in the first three, unless such a listing is not objective. Meanwhile, he did not achieve that feat on a platter of gold, he earned it. Or better still, he paid his dues, then the dues accumulated, and it is now safe to say the all round actor is currently enjoying the dividends of that "dues’" accumulation.

For him, it was a long road to stardom. Not many know that Odunlade Adekola did not just join the movie industry at the time his presence was first felt as an actor of note. Based on an extract from his profile on Wikipedia, he joined the movie industry and registered as a member of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) in 1996 when he was only 18.It is instructive, however, to add at this juncture that most of Yoruba actors if not all, Odunlade Adekola inclusive, have dumped the ANTP for a new body named Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPPAN). And the reason(s) for that exodus is not the subject of discuss here.

Meanwhile, it was not until 7 years after joining the industry that the first twinkle of a star shone on Odunlade Adekola. It was in 2003 to be precise, when he played the lead role in a movie produced by a late actor under whom Odunlade Adekola learnt the art of acting, Ishola Durojaye, better known as Alasari, that his (Odunlade Adekola) great acting skills came to the fore and caught the fancy of the teeming movie viewers. The movie that acted as his launch pad then came with the title "Asiri Gomina Wa".

Meanwhile, the unequalled contributions of the late Alasari who died in a fatal auto accident few years back, to discovering and refining raw talents out of the rock city of Abeokuta, is a topic for another day. But Odunlade Adekola would eternally be grateful to the deceased and exceptional film-maker for who he has become today. And what Odunlade Adekola said in an interview with this blogger some years back about Alasari would suffice in this regard.

"For Ishola Durojaye (Alasari) in the production of one of his films then, 'Asiri Gomina Wa', there were lots of criticisms that Odun(lade) cannot act the role that was given to him properly as the governor in the movie, but he (Alasari) called me to one side and said no matter what they say, Odun, you are going to do it. This is your script, go through it and master it. And I was thrown into confusion and felt challenged as to how I would not disappoint someone that has placed such enormous confidence in me. But I thank God today, though I have been acting before 'Asiri Gomina Wa', but it was 'Asiri Gomina Wa' that brought me to the spotlight."

Though the movie "Asiri Gomina Wa" was the production that brought Odunlade Adekola into reckoning as a deep and thorough role-interpreter and consequently fetched him more movie roles than he had envisaged, afterwards, it can be said, arguably, that it was not that movie that began the brand building for him. Rather, it was his self produced movie which may also be referred to as a movie with a self-fulfilling prophesy aptly titled "Emi Ni Ire Kan" (I am the next in line to receive God's favour).

"Emi Ni Ire Kan", being Odunlade Adekola's second movie after "Farapamo", was produced in 2009 and he played the lead in the movie alongside Ronke Odusanya aka Flaky Ididowo. He played the role of a stammering local rapper while Flaky Ididowo acted as his girlfriend cum manager. It was one comic movie that sold like hot cakes at that time and more importantly, opened a floodgate of encomiums for Odunlade Adekola as an actor to beat. Basically, due to his sublime delivery of his role in the movie, he went on to win his first major award as City People Entertainment's Best Yoruba Actor of the Year in 2009 and since then, he has not looked back as he kept churning out block-buster after block-buster from his stable.

For the records, some of the other movies by Odunlade Adekola which further ensconced his position as a leading actor and strengthened his brand the more, include: "Baba Super", "Ila Owo", "Eje Fun Eje", "Sunday Dagboru", "Mufu Oloosa Oko", "Alani Pamolekun" and "Adebayo Aremu Abere (AAA)" to mention a few. It would not be out of place to hint it at this point that Odunlade Adekola's proactiveness at producing his own movies regularly in which he always play the lead rather than wait for other producers to call him for lead roles, is one of the secrets of maintaining his relevance in the industry for so long.

And remaining relevant has also yielded its own benefit for the native of Ekiti State. Though, a lot of people have the misconception that Odunlade Adekola is from Ogun State where his parents had been based before his birth, but his home state is actually Ekiti. Meanwhile, his remaining relevant for long, ultimately earned him a Glo Ambassadorship deal in 2013, an achievement which took him to cloud nine when it happened."I must tell you, Glo endorsement is one of the happiest things in my life. It makes me happy anytime I remember that I am a Glo ambassador, because when you are working, you don’t know the type of people watching you. There are a lot of people in the entertainment industry. So, for a big company like that to say ‘let us call on this man to be an ambassador’ is a great thing for me. So, I am so happy. Like I used to say, I never thought of it at all or that any organization would call on me to be its brand ambassador. It is something of great joy to me." He gushed in an interview with ThisDay Life after the deal was struck then.

It however, came to observers of happenings in the entertainment industry as a surprise when Odunlade Adekola was dropped few months after, alongside some other entertainers as Glo Ambassadors. Though not much of official reason was given by the telecommunication giant for including him in those they decided to drop then, but like a phoenix from the ashes, Odunlade Adekola recently returned as one of the ambassadors Glo signed on in June, 2015.

The reason for his re-appointment cannot be unconnected with his profile that has continued to soar higher and higher like an eagle despite the stiff competition he is being given by other actors in the Yoruba movie industry. Out of sheer hard work and dedication to his passion, the actor, film-maker, director, producer and sound-track composer has been able to build himself into a big brand that even those who may not like his face cannot afford not identifying with.

ISLAMIC MUSIC STAR, MISTURA TEMI NI SUCCESS ACQUIRES A NEW CAR

What parameter do you use to measure success? Does it include being in a particular profession for a considerable period of time while not only remaining on top of your game but also living a good life with even the potential for a greater future in your area of human endeavour? You agree success includes that? Then you should agree that by pushing her music career from the beginning till date with the alias "Temi Ni 'Success'" ('Success' Is Mine), young and talented female Islamic music star, Mistura Aderohunmu Asafa, has success really rubbing off on her career by the time you finish reading this gist.

Better referred to as Mistura Temi Ni Success, she started out as a kid artiste in the then burgeoning Islamic music industry and burst into the limelight with an album titled: "Temi Ni Success" which sold like hot cakes then as everyone kept wondering how a kid could be so gifted. And now that Islamic music has come of age as a genre recognized by all music lovers not only in Nigeria but even beyond, Mistura Temi Ni Success who is currently in her twenties is now, not only married to a U.S. based upwardly mobile husband, Akanfe, she still shines brightly among stars who came long after her into the industry.

And as you read this, the dark, cute, petite and velvety voiced singer has just taken delivery of an exotic Camry car with which she would be painting the town not just red, but in every colours of the rainbow. The car is indeed a birthday gift from her caring husband. And who says "her's is not success"? Some names surely have ways of rubbing off on their bearers (oruko ma nro omo).

GOING FOR 2015 HAJJ HAS MADE ME A BETTER MUSLIM—MC MURPHY

+ Speaks On His New Club And Bar Business

Before now, the only inkling you could have that popular comedian and on-air-personality, Chief Moroof Wole Sorounke better known as MC Murphy is a Muslim was probably because of his first name, Moroof, which is no doubt a Muslim name and maybe, because of one of his aliases, “Omo Jusi Alhaja” (the son of Jusi Alhaja). After all, an Alhaja should normally raise Muslim children. Beyond that, there was really nothing much to show the kind of religious faith the Aare Amuludun of Itori Land followed. At times, you would see a crucifix hanging from his necklace like a Christian and some other times; you could see beads circling his wrist, which may leave you wondering whether that is because of his being a chief or a sign of being a traditionalist. He was such a confusing character with his life style.

But wait for this; Oluaye Awon Watz Up Guys as MC Murphy also calls himself took the bold step of going for the 2015 holy pilgrimage in Mecca which eventually put paid to where his religious faith lies. He returned few weeks back and the silver tooth at one side of his dentition shines from afar in such a way that you must notice it whether you are on the lookout or not. Saheed Ojubanire Online engaged MC Murphy in a chat at his just completed Club and Bar, “Murphy’s Place” beside Bayak Petrol Station, Olo’more, Abeokuta, Ogun State, earlier today, Tuesday, November 10th, 2015, and he revealed that going to Mecca has made him a better Muslim. And one important aspect of this change for the better is that he now tries as much as possible to observe the five daily prayers.

True to his claim, few minutes before granting Saheed Ojubanire Online audience, he excused himself to observe Asri, the 4 pm Muslim prayer while some of his friends around looked on in awe. And sharing part of his experience in Mecca, MC Murphy stated that he saw religiosity in the people of Mecca such that they take Almighty Allah as the ultimate. He said whatever they were doing, once they heard the call for prayer, they would abandon it to observe the salat and come back to it afterwards.

But how far or close was MC Murphy to the tragedies that happened during the hajj? “When I saw the crane that eventually crashed in Mecca, I told the person beside me that it was disaster waiting to happen. And as if I saw into the future, it was a day after I said that the crane collapsed. So, I blame that on the Saudi Arabian authority. It was pure negligence because such cranes were scattered all over the place at a period they were hosting the whole world for hajj. In the same vein, the stampede should be blamed on the authority because the space they created for the huge number of people who had to move at the same time was too narrow. And the arrangement was so disorganized that a crowd of people coming from opposing directions had to crash into one another which resulted in the avoidable stampede.”

Meanwhile, now that MC Murphy is about to open his Club and Bar for business, do you know the new name he has adopted in respect of that? “Hajji Disco 1,” that is what he said friends are now calling him since most of the activities expected to be happening at his fun spot would involve dancing and merrying. And he hinted Saheed Ojubanire Online that once the Club and Bar takes off fully, there would be a monthly show at the place tagged: “MC Murphy Live” where there would be comedy and music for his fans who come around to club and socialize at Murphy’s Place. And the fun spot would also be opened to members of the public to book for their social events.

There is a Car Wash named “De-Stone Car Wash” right in front of the Club and Bar, also owned by MC Murphy, which has been in operation for some months and the expanse of land behind the Club and Bar is already under going some clearing for an expansion project for the fun spot.

WOW! CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT THIS ARTISTE DID TO MAKE HIS DREAM COME TRUE?

How far can you go to make your dream come true? Or don't you have a dream? Of course, you surely do because everyone does. But since dreams don't usually come true on autopilot, what can you do, no matter how extreme, to nudge that dream awake and make it walk, consciously, into reality?

Can you imagine what this young man did to achieve his dream? First of all, introduction: he is Odeleye Temitope Vincent aka Temmy T, a fast rising artiste, who recently dropped a very creative song "Jaiye" which is certainly a break from the norm. He uses his Ekiti dialect to rap!

And do you know what he had to do to make his dream of doing music come true? Hear what he said to a national daily recently: "the greatest price I have paid in order to pursue my music career was selling our family land."

And is he regretting taking that bold step? "I am not regretting it in any way because I have passion for music. I am not looking at the fame music can give me or the money. I want people to know that you can profit from your passion and become a success in it," he rationalized.

Temmy T. believes using his Ekiti dialect to rap would stand him out. And you know what? He is absolutely right. He is so different and yet, so good.

But if you are in doubt, you can check his new video out here...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sCECYbm1tpw #Wakorbada

FUJI SUPER STAR, SAHEED OSUPA STORMS STUDIO FOR ANOTHER 2 IN 1 ALBUM

There is something about ideas in any form. When you have a deluge of them over flowing through your mind, the next thing you look for is an appropriate avenue for their ventilation. And it does not matter whether the area of your interest is poetry, drama, prose or even, music.

For widely acclaimed King of Music, Saheed Osupa, the Olufimo 1, it is obvious ideas to innovate, articulate and ventilate fresh messages in Fuji music never stop coming. And the ideas seem to be gushing out of the stream of his mind with so much force and pressure that he does not seem to notice when his creative thinking begin to spill over.

No wonder in this era when most of his peers still find it difficult to compose enough songs that would fill one album, he, on the other hand, is always storming the studio with more than enough materials that can fill to the brim, two albums at a go.

And whoever says Baba Hakeem is not the veritable King of Music should check their facts and figures. As you read this, the Matagbamole of Fuji music who at a point in time released a 4 in 1 album, a record-breaking feat in Fuji music has again, hit the studio to wax a 2 in 1 new album for his teeming fans, just like he did the last time out.

Information reaching Saheed Ojubanire Online has it that the album being facilitated by Mustoy Film Productions, is likely to be released as a December special next month and it promises to be more explosive than Baba Suliat's previous albums. You can take that to the bank.

MEET SHOSHOGIRISHO, THE FIRST YORUBA ARTISTE TO DO A SUCCESSFUL JOINT ALBUM

+Pasuma, Obesere and Shefiu Alao's Connection

Obviously, when he was thinking of the album sometime between 1999 and the turn of the century into year 2000, he could not have seen the kind of success awaiting his creative thought coming. One experience, as you would soon find out, must just have inspired him though, but he deserved all the credit for taking full advantage of it.

The first hint of the novel concept used in the musical production anyone would have back then was its promo on a very popular Yoruba mystique programme titled:" Nkan Nbe" (Mysteries of Life) and presented by a charismatic and consummate broadcaster who is now late, Kolawole Olawuyi. Do you remember him? The man who was fond of describing himself as "eniti okuru, ti ko'ga, ti ko dudu ti ko pupa… amo ti ofi irunmu se fensi ete" (the one who is neither short nor tall, not dark nor fair… but has moustache as a fence between his nose and lips). How funny that was.

Meanwhile, when for the first time the song was played on the radio, OGBC 2 90.5 F.M., Abeokuta, Ogun State, between 8 and 10 pm on a Friday, the day of the week that the programme used to hit the airwaves and it began with the line: "Iku lo n meja kakooo, Iku lo n meja kakooo, mo nsere ju Pasuma lo, mo nsere ju Obesere e, irin ise lo n dami laamu uuu, irinse lo dami laamu ooo, irin ise lo n dami laamu uuu, kama puro kama ma jale, mo ya Pasuma l'ohun... "Hmmmnnn...

Expectedly, listeners to the promo of the song were stunned by the sheer confidence of a rather unknown artiste boasting against relatively established ones of not just being better than them but also claiming he lent them the tone of voice they were singing with. In case you don't understand the import of the line of music above, it goes thus by English translation:" if not for death, it would not have been easy to roll a fish in preparation for roasting it, I'm a better artiste than Pasuma and Obesere, but the only problem I have is lack of musical instruments. Let me even disclose a top secret that I am the one who lent Pasuma the tone of voice he sings with!"

What effrontery, you say. That was the same feeling those who were old enough back then to understand the “grave” allegation the artiste was leveling against the Fuji artistes. But immediately he dropped that line, it was quite amusing to hear the voices of the challenged artistes viz: Pasuma, Obesere and Shefiu Alao, repectively, coming into the song to defend themselves. And they did not only defend themselves, they took their challenger to the cleaners with their individual defensive compositions.

And who is this challenger being talked about since? Delaying his identity is deliberate because he requires full introduction. Gbenga Allinson nick-named Shoshogirisho obviously due to his height did not start off as an artiste. He was and still is, a freelance broadcaster and one of the few talents who had the rear privilege of tapping from the wealth of knowledge, experience and ingenuity of three of the best there were, at that time.

According to findings by Saheed Ojubanire Online, Shoshogirisho had his training in the broadcasting world from late Toba Opaleye, late Gbenga Adeboye (Jengbetiele) and later had a stint with Kolawole Olawuyi under whom he released the ground-breaking collaborative album titled:"Knock-Out."

Reports even have it that the initial title given by Shoshogirisho to the album was "Challenge" but it was Kola Olawuyi who changed it to "Knock-Out," and it sold so well that Kola Olawuyi also had to buy Shoshogirisho a car after giving him good money when the album was released in the year 2000.

And talking about where Shoshogirisho must have gotten the inspiration, it cannot be too far from the case of an eccentric man claiming to be an artiste and had to feature on one of Gbenga Adeboye's entertaining programmes on radio where the man claimed that Pasuma stole his voice before being able to hit the limelight as a Fuji artiste. It was a matter many listeners took as another joke from Funwontan as Gbenga Adeboye was also known until the man frankly insisted it was true while being interviewed. The man did not give up until he was ridiculed on the programme by not being able to sing when asked to sing one of his own songs. And it was around that period "Knock-Out" came out. Hence, Shoshogirisho’s inspiration could easily be traced to that by those who listened to the eccentric man’s apparent false claims.

So for those who are doing joint or collaborative albums here and there today, especially, the Islamic artistes, they should always give kudos to Shoshogirisho who is today the Public Relations Officer to Shefiu Alao, for setting the pace.

2 TOP OGUN INDEPENDENT BROADCASTERS QUIT NEWSPAPER REVIEW PROGRAMME THEY INITIATED ON PARAMOUNT FM

WHY BEBE MUSILIU AND I WALKED AWAY FROM AJAABALE, ALAWIYE FEDERATION REVEALS

An ardent listener to early morning newspaper review programme called "Ajaabale" on a federal government owned radio station situated in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Paramount 94.5 F.M. must be familiar with their voices. And that is not just because they reviewed headlines in the national dailies between 6.30 and 7 am every other day, but more because of the unusual mastery of the language of communication, Yoruba, with which they threw banters at each other whenever they were paired together before going on to lace their delivery with apt and exciting Yoruba proverbs, idioms, parables, innuendoes, metaphors and other figures of speech relevant to the major news of the day. Not to stretch your curiosity much longer, the 2 top broadcasters in question are Titus Akinyemi Olatoye better known as Alawiye Federation, Ola Inu Kan, the current chairman of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State chapter, and Musiliu Adisa Sanni SAN (Senior Amuludun of Nigeria), FCA (Fluent and Capable Apanilerin), Omo Iya Ponle, Alagbo One Billion.

There are two pieces of news about the duo for their fans: one piece of bad news and one piece of good news. But the piece of bad news first. Alawiye Federation and Bebe Musiliu have both walked away from the newspaper review programme which they not only started on the radio with the support of the then General Manager of the station, Prince Adeboboye, but that they also made popular and darling of radio listeners at dawn both in Ogun and its neighbouring states. According to a Facebook post by Alawiye Federation this morning, Saturday, November 7th, 2015, “On the 1st of March, 2012, the programme birthed and Bebe Musiliu and I set the pace by reading the first episode amidst fear, trembling and stuttering… I remember the 30 minutes that day looked like 3 hours because neither of us had ever been a newscaster in our career but still scaled the hurdle.”

Alawiye Federation continued, “…but the most important thing is that we broke the jinx with a powerful encouragement from the then General Manager, Prince Adeboboye who is about the best GM that station ever has ever produced. All together, four of us (Chief [Mrs.] Ibiyemi Ajadi, Bebe Musiliu, Pastor T. and I) were actually the trailblazers of Ajaabale and we thank God that the programme is not only the best on that channel but also the toast of every presenter and advertiser, just in less than 3 years… to God be the glory!

“Well, in the long run so much water has passed under the bridge; we had the course to go through lots of hardship and sacrifices to sustain the programme even when it was not convenient. Thanks to a former GM, Alhaji Bola Muibi who also believed in our ability and transformed the programme to the best in revenue generation for the station. Some presenters dropped from presenting the programme along the line due to one thing or the other like frustration, bad management, health factor etc. while some others joined out of ‘I must be heard at all cost’ syndrome not minding whether they are paid or not. Like the saying that says one should leave the stage when the ovation is loudest, my humble self and Bebe Musiliu who set the pace then have decided to leave the stage due to some of the factors listed above (most importantly, bad management) and we don’t want to take all of our listeners for granted by leaving without any message to you because you have all been our backbones with your encouragement, especially when you see us in town. However, the programme is still very much on with good and versatile presenters you have always enjoyed but our joy is that we came, we saw and we have conquered.”

You must be wondering what the good piece of news is by now, you don’t have to wait any longer, here is it, “… we implore you to wait for our next move on another radio station where we will set another pace, on behalf of Musiliu Sanni, Mr. Bebe omo Iya Ponle, Alagbo One billion and my humble self, Alawiye Federation, Ola Inu Kan, we say thank you in a million times for being there!”

The post was duly signed by Akinyemi Olatoye (Alawiye Federation).

His forthcoming studio album is set to be released sometime in February 2016 but promos to hit tv stations before then. ANOTHER NOLLYWOOD ACTOR, KING JOE, VENTURES INTO MUSIC

Nollywood actor, King Joe Okechukwu popularly known as “King Joe” is now a musician.

The tall, dark and handsome star of “Alice My First Lady”, “Rings of Fire”, “Falling Apart”, and nearly a hundred other hit Nollywood movies had travelled to the United States seven years ago to attend a film school. He studied Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), at the Universal Studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles – California and later produced a hit movie, Second Chances in the state of Maryland, USA. He announced his return a few years ago from years of academic sojourn in the United States of America and fans have waited eagerly for something new from him, but no one saw this coming.

Apparently, the somewhat media-shy actor had been a closet musician, probably longer than he’s been an actor. He had written more than twenty songs but never had the courage to produce any. “I am the prolific Motivator who encouraged people to pursue their dreams against all odds and reach for the heights; but fear held me on lockdown for eight years! What an irony?” he said. According to the star actor, the failure of some of his colleagues who in the past tried their hands out in music but didn’t quiet excel, had psychologically impacted him adversely and consequently contributed to his perceived cold feet towards pursuing a career in music.

His new single, Proud To Be African was written in 2007, produced in 2012 and is now being released in 2015. The hit track is currently enjoying airplay on many radio stations across the country and is indeed a joy to listen to. According to one American Music Producer “this is not a song; it’s an anthem for every person of African origin”. “I don’t think this is a song; I see it as a movement”, a TV Continental (TVC), Lagos presenter said of the track.

Proud To Be African is a Tribute Song To Africa. It’s a song about self-discovery and socio-cultural identification for Africans all over
the world- whether they be Native Africans, African Americans, Africans in Brazil, the Islands, etc. It’s indeed beyond just a song.

OGUN CROSS OVER ARTISTE, WOLE PAPA GOES FOR 5ALIVE!

Anyone who is called Asiwaju in Yoruba parlance has got one special trait. And that is, he has a knack for leading while others follow. Mind you, he does not go out to exact or force himself on others as a leader but his personality, hardwok and achievement over the course of time confers the status on him automatically. So like him or loath him, he remains a leader in his chosen area of human endeavour.

Such is the fate of this charismatic Ogun State based cross over artiste and a very talented one at that, Asiwaju Wole Papa. Listening to him sing is like having a medley of all the popular genres of music from this part of the world finely fused and delivered smoothly by one performer. And the dexterity and acumen with which he switches from key to key with ease is the key that he keys into in killing any show where he shows up. So, if he is not Wole Papa, he can never be like him.

But if you are thinking the above epithets about the successful artiste are mere rhetoric and baseless hype, there is just one sure way to find out for yourself and be convinced. First of all, star this date on your calendar: 27th December, 2015. And what’s happening on the date? It is Wole Papa’s 5Alive!

One night, one venue, one stage, one microphone at a Dinner Party, Album Launch, Video Launch, Birthday and End of the Year Party, all rolled into one. Where would you rather be on the night if not Adesba International Hotel, Mercy Road, Panseke, Abeokuta, Ogun State? It’s Wole Papa’s 5Alive! And it promises to be one of your best nights of the year.

Shocking: How Yoruba Magazine, Alariya Oodua's Late Publisher, Lanre Dodo Balogun Saw His Death A Day Before He Died

+ His Last Investigative Story Revealed

Like in W.B.Yeat's poem titled: An Irish Airman Foresees His Death, a recent disclosure has revealed that popular Yoruba entertainment magazine, Alariya Oodua's publisher, Lanre Dodo Balogun must have foreseen his death about 24 hours before he actually passed on.

According to an exclusive information reaching Saheed Ojubanire Online, Dodo as the deceased was fondly called who breathed his last on Tuesday, 27th October, 2015, had on Monday, 26th October, travelled to Abeokuta, Ogun State, in the company of a popular presenter of a mystic programme on radio and a veteran actor turned Special Assistant to a popular herbal medicine manufacturer in Lagos, to dig into a particularly story of interest to the three of them.

Findings revealed that the story had to do with an undying murder case involving a female up and coming Islamic artiste and the matter had been incidented at Eleweran police headquarters in Abeokuta which the trio had gone to pry into what was called a new development about the case.

However, according to our impeccabile source, the trio was met with an embarrassment by one of the policemen in charge of the case as they were walked out on the premise that journalists were not expected to interfere with the case.

Having been walked out, the trio decided to go for a meal of Amala at an area called Ijaye in Abeokuta. And while they were having the delicacy, Dodo reportedly told the popular radio presenter that he would like him to be one of his guests at his house on January 1st, 2016.

Our source squeeled further that Dodo said he had stored about 20 cartons of drinks already in preparation for the new year's day and he was planning to buy more. And then, he went quiet.

But what Dodo said next would shock you.The next statement, reportedly from Dodo was that, he only hoped that the drinks he bought would not be used for his own burial! It was after he said the same thing the second time that the radio presenter was quoted to have responded with "God forbid," before imploring Dodo not to utter such a morbid statement again.

Then, after paying for their meal, they headed back to Lagos in the vehicle belonging to the Special Assistant to the herbal doctor in which they all had travelled to Abeokuta earlier in the day.

As a matter of fact, the radio presenter was said to have been in a long discussion with Dodo early in the morning on the Tuesday he died. The presenter was said to be urging Dodo to come along to Abeokuta that day on the same matter they went the previous day as a more solid arrangement had been made for them from above. But Dodo insisted he was not going, the reason the presenter was said to have decided not to go as well.

But alas! The next information the presenter would hear about Dodo was when the Special Assistant to the herbal doctor called to break the news of Dodo's death which was later confirmed by the presenter when he paid a visit to Dodo's house immediately.

POPULAR ISLAMIC ARTISTE’S MANAGER CUM BROTHER SET TO WED

When a man finds love he has found a good thing. That saying cannot be truer than in the case of the manager to a very popular Islamic artiste, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Azeez Abiodun Ajiroba aka Saoty Arewa, Lukmon Olayinka Abdul-Salam Ajiroba, who, as the surname has clearly revealed, is equally a younger brother to the Islamic artiste, as he is obviously happy to have found a good thing.

When Yinka as the artiste manager is simply called, was sighted at a public event on Sunday, 1st November, 2015, and he was so full of smiles whether the subject of the discussion he was having was funny or not, not many were conscious enough to attach the fact that, apart from Yinka being a naturally happy-go-lucky guy, he was also in a very happy mood knowing that later in the month, he would become a MR. with his customized MRS. to go with it.

And who is the MRS. to be? She is Miss Nafisat Ifeoluwa Abdul-Azeez. Did you notice that the bride in the making’s surname is same as Saoty Arewa’s first name? Everything is just interwoven. Meanwhile, the wedding is scheduled to take place on the 29th of November at Luyepo Primary School, Epe, Lagos State. The colour code for the bride is pink while that of the groom is Aqua colour.

Wait for this, popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Buhari Musa Ajikobi 1 is billed to be the officiating cleric at the Nikkai and that promises an interesting experience for all the attendees, apart from a retinue of Islamic artiste that would be gracing the stage on the day. Meanwhile, the husband and wife to be, seemed to be both fans of Barcelona football club, but one should have rather been a fan of Chelsea because “Chelsea l’oko Barca” (Chelsea is Barca’s husband) on the pitch of football!

THE TRUTH OUT AT LAST! CHARLES OLUMO (AGBAKO) OPENS UP ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH PASUMA

For years, it had been in the realm of rumour that veteran actor, Charles Olumo aka Agbako is the biological father to Fuji music super star, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and the rumour, over the years seemed to have developed an iota of truth. Read how this reporter was able to extract the fact of the matter from the 90 year old actor which should close the matter for good.

Q: People say you are the biological father of music star, Pasuma, how factual is that?

All Fuji musicians are my children. Osupa, Obesere and others are my sons and I relate with all of them fatherly.

Q: That brings me to the very important question, I know you don’t like to talk about it but because you called me your son, you must honour me by answering it, are you Wasiu Alabi Pasuma’s father?

I have stopped answering that question a long time ago but I will indulge you. See I am not Alabi Pasuma’s father. I dated his mother when she was with Baba Sala. Then she used to bring Alabi to locations, he was a toddler then. So if I was dating the mom, then I think I am qualified to say I am a father to him.

TWO POPULAR FEMALE ISLAMIC ARTISTES FIGHT OVER A MALE PRODUCER

…THIS IS THE TRUE STATE OF THE MATTER, THE PRODUCER SPEAKS

Hmmm…you must be one of the most active Aprokos we have around to have rushed down to read this story. And sorry to disappoint you, the story is not exactly about what you are thinking. The moment you saw the headline scream that: TWO POPULAR FEMALE ISLAMIC ARTISTES FIGHT OVER A MALE PRODUCER, it is predictable that you must have thought the Islamic artistes must be fighting over dating the male producer. That is not it!

Here is what it is. The rumour mill currently has it that there is a cold war going on between two talented and very popular Islamic artistes, Alhaja Basirat Olomitutu better known as Iya Nghana and Alhaja Kafayat Singer over a gifted music producer, Issa Alabede aka Agbara Orin. And the alleged cause of the misgiving between the two pretty Islamic singers is said to be a claim by Iya Nghana that Kafayat Singer has poached her producer, Issa Alabede from her.

Until recently, Issa Alabede had been the favourite producer to Iya Nghana and he was hardly producing for any other Islamic artiste except her, but the pendulum of favoritism for Issa Alabede seems to have swung to the side of Kafayat Singer, a development which is reportedly not going down well with Iya Nghana. And that is said to have engendered a cold war between the two Islamic artistes.

Meanwhile, Saheed Ojubanire Online sought to dig to the root of the matter by engaging Issa Alabede in BBM chat recently, and the well-sought after producer who produces for one of the foremost Fuji artistes in Nigeria, Alhaji Shefiu Alao Adekunle (Baba Oko), revealed that there is no iota of truth in the rumour that the cool headed singers are fighting over him.

Issa Alabede however disclosed that it is true that he was more into producing for Iya Nghana before now but that he has been doing more jobs with Kafayat Singer of late, but he still maintains a very cordial working relationship with Iya Nghana. He added that as a music producer, he can be approached by any artiste interested in his work to produce for them and that cannot cause animosity either between the new artiste and the artistes he has produced for before, or him and the artistes he has produced for, before the new ones.

And he concluded that the rumour mongers should look for another tale to tell because the current one would not sell.

FUJI STAR, PASUMA REVEALS NEW ALIAS

Are you a fan of the ever soaring Fuji music artiste, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Odetola, the Oga Nla and Ijoba of Fuji music? If you are, then you need to be kept up to speed with this piece of gist. Pasuma has added a new alias to his ever growing list of nick-names.

And guess what the latest one is, "Alhaji omo Alhaja baba Alhaja" (Alhaji son of Alhaja father of Alhaja), that is the much the Obama of Fuji music revealed on Sunday, 1st of November, 2015, at Alhaja Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso's 2 in 1 event which held at 10 Degrees Event Center, Billingsway, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

It is pertinent to add here that Pasuma's first daughter, Wasilat, who was also at the event, performed the holy pilgrimage to Mecca this year which conferred the status of Alhaja on her. And his (Pasuma) mum, Alhaja Khadijat Kubrat, having been a long time Alhaja and himself being a multiple Alhaji already, it is not out of order for Pasuma to adopt the new appellation.

So, any time you hear anybody say “Alhaji omo Alhaja baba Alhaja”, be informed that no two hawks bear the name eagle (eye meji o kin je asa), it is the charismatic Pasuma that is being referred to, according to what he professed by himself on stage at the event when he was asked to present a gift to one of the guests who won in a raffle draw conducted there.

SAHEED OSUPA AND PASUMA'S FIGHT CAUSES MILD DRAMA AT RUKAYAT GAWAT'S ALBUM LAUNCH IN LAGOS

The much publicised 2 in 1 event (Imole Day 2015 and Launching of Ogbe Okan 3) by dark and pretty Islamic artiste, Alhaja Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso aka Imole was held as planned on Sunday, 1st November, 2015, at 10 Degrees Event Center, Plot A2, Billings Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos. And at the risk of sounding exaggerative, the event lived beyond the huge hype the pre-event promotions for it generated.

Apart from the expansive hall (the whole of the usually demarcated event centre, not half of it) being filled to the brim by galaxy of movie and music stars and their fans alike, there were so much gifts handed out in appreciation to fans who bought tickets at the venue by way of raffle draw.

Besides being spoilt for choice in terms of varieties of sumptuous meals which went in endless supply and assorted drinks that circulated to the nooks and crannies of the hall like bazaar, fans won gifts like refrigerator, television set, generator, DVD player, blenders and so on. And selected widows went home with bags of rice.

Meanwhile, the high point of the event did not come without a mild drama for the discerning minds at the event. To charge up the atmosphere after a string of individual musical performance by some Islamic artistes, a group of them was invited to the stage for a collaborative performance with the undisputed Oga Nla of Fuji music, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.

The list of the Islamic singers who stormed the stage with the Ijoba of Fuji music as Pasuma is also regarded were Alhaji Wasiu As-Sideeq, Alhaji Saoty Arewa, Ere Asalatu, Alhaja Mistura Temi Ni Success, Alhaja Sophiat Iya Nkaola, Alhaja Aminat Omotayebi, Saheed Gbemisoke, and a few others.

While the very talented artistes held their audience spellbound as they exchanged the microphone on the stage to sing some of their popular tunes, Ere Asalatu innocently picked a line of controversial lyrics from one of Pasuma's recent songs and that caused a stir. And guess what it was... "Ijoba, Ijoba, Ijoba..." was the line the talented Islamic artiste picked which met a disapproving reaction from Pasuma.

And how exactly did Pasuma react? The charismatic musician kept waving his hand to Ere Asalatu to indicate to him that he should not even go there at all, knowing fully well that there were so many Saheed Osupa's fans in attendance.

You may be wondering how that line of song affect Saheed Osupa. Just relax. Keen observers of recent events in the Fuji music industry would attest to the fact that it is that same line of song that triggered off the current animosity raging between Pasuma and Saheed Osupa. How? Pasuma not too long ago spurn the combustive lyric by singing that: "Ijoba oga Oba, Ijoba egbon Oba..." which has ignited a musical inferno between him and Saheed Osupa that has refused to be quenched, not by all the water of peace stake-holders have been making attempts to pour on it.

In case you don't know, until that sensitive composition by Pasuma, Saheed Osupa had been carrying on as the King of music which translates to Oba Orin in Yoruba and when Pasuma came up with his new rank as the Ijoba (Federal Government) of Fuji and then went on to sing that: "Ijoba oga Oba, Ijoba egbon Oba..." (Federal Government, the boss to any King, Federal Government, the big brother to any King...), Saheed Osupa took that personally to mean a tacit attack on his Oba's status and he has since gone berserk with abuses in his music against Pasuma calling him all kinds of unprintable names.

So, when Ere Asalatu picked that same highly inflammable lyrics at Rukayat Gawat's event, Pasuma never wanted to go there as the video of it was being recorded by Okiki Films and Music Productions to be released later for public consumption and he apparently, did not want any more negative response from Saheed Osupa. Ask which line Alhaji Wasiu As-Sideeq picked from Pasuma's song immediately the microphone was collected from Ere Asalatu by Pasuma and handed over to him to sing?

" Nitemi nitemi, mi o ma bawon si ndi ote, mi o ma bawon si ndi abosi o, owo mi ma re o fun fun nene (For me, I take exception from a gang up to run anybody down, my hands are very clean) and that caused a roar of support for Baba Nwaka as Wasiu As-Sideeq is also known, from the audience with the way he stylishly washed his hands off any kind of unwitting gang up against Saheed Osupa by the artistes on the stage.

However, on the whole, it was a very exciting point during the course of the event as the artistes kept exchanging microphone on the stage for about 30 minutes to entertain the audience who obviously got a great value at the event for every minute spent.

Some of the dignitaries at the event included: Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello who delivered lecture at the event, Sheik Muritadha Adio Abolaji (Baba N’Bariga), grand-son of Sheikh Ibrahim Niyass from Senegal, Muyiwa Authentic, Sanyeri, Kamilu Kompo, Kunle Afod, Murphy Afolabi, Moji Olaiya, Lizzy Anjorin, Nike Peller, Soji Omo Banke, Akanni Olohunwa, top marketers, and a host of others.

Synergy Media Set To Hold First Broad Based Islamic Music (IMAN) Awards

There is no gainsaying the fact that Islamic music is one of the important genres of music on the landscape of the Nigerian entertainment industry today. Though it took it time, the Islamic music has now evolved to the level at which it boasts of ever growing fanship on the national scale and even beyond. Hence, there is now a strong need for the media to focus more attention on the flourishing segment of the showbiz by way of rewarding the stake-holders who are making the section of the music industry tick, relentlessly.

The foregoing is the basis on which Different Stroke Media, a firm owned by experienced freelance journalist and blogger, Saheed Ojubanire, who blogs on www.saheedojubanire.blogspot.com, and his professional colleague and associate of many years, Ola Mohammed, the publisher of Islanders International Magazine and blogger on www.islandersmagazine.blogspot.com, have come together to form SynergyMedia for the purpose of organizing annual broad based and all encompassing Islamic music awards.

Aptly tagged: Islamic Music and Associated Nominees (IMAN) Awards with a pay-off line of “… the tonic for Islamic music”, the project is aimed at rewarding with an award, every individual who plays one role or the other in growing the Islamic music industry. And it is imperative to add here that the acronym IMAN is carefully coined as the name for the awards due to the importance of the concept of IMAN to Islamic religion. IMAN which translates to Faith in English is the core prerequisite for anyone to be qualified to be addressed as a Muslim because Muslims live by what is called the six articles of Faith.

Therefore, the award event which is planned to be staged on the night of last Friday, 29th through Saturday morning, 30th of April, 2016, is one award every stake-holder in the Islamic music industry should strive to win. Of course, the choice of a Friday night, apart from Friday being a special day to Muslims, is also to enable, especially, the artistes to attend without the event clashing with their other social engagements which might come up around the same period.

The awards categories are as follow:
