Ogun Popular Presenter, Omo-Oba Pedepede Cries For Help








*Needs 1.9 Millionaira To Save Arm From Amputation After Auto-Crash

*Says: "I Served Ogun State As A Sportsman But The State Has Failed Me In My Time Of Need"

Babatunde Okunade who is better known as Omo-Oba Pedepede is a popular radio presenter in Ogun state. But some time in 2010, he was involved in a near fatal accident. And now he needs a sum of 1.9 millionaira to save his left arm from amputation. And that is owing to the fact that he was referred from the hospital in Nigeria where he was receiving treatment to an Indian hospital for adequate medical attention some time last year (2012). Though he has started receiving the treatment in India but he is currently cash-strapped to continue. He claims he had approached Ogun state government several times for assistance but all to no avail. And he says he feels disappointed in the state he served and won many laurels for as a sportsman in the past. Below is his unedited mail as sent to Different Stroke Media and the messages between him and his doctor in India.


Good day,
 I am Babatunde Okunade a native of isaga orile under Abeokuta north local govt. in Ogun state. I am a radio broadcaster and also former ogun state sportman who represented ogun state both intermidate, junior and senior level with lot of medals and laurel. I had an auto crash on 29th august 2010 on assignment with my car which almost cost my life but I give thanks to Almighty God for spearing my life but i had fracture on my left arm which almost amputated and i was referred to hospital in India for surgery this year at ( WELCARE HOSPITAL, VADODARA, INDIA.) and my first surgery done on 7th july,2012, i was asked to come back for second surgery on 26th october 2012 but this appointment was failed due to lack of fund which cost 1.9million naira for the secont trip the medical crew gave me another appointment for 24th november, 2012 also failed. I wrote letter of assistance to governor IBIKUNLE AMOSUN of Ogun state personally due to my contribution to the state in sports and media aspect for assistant but no response from his able office with a lots of text messages to back my letter up and i even have one on one contact with governor special adviser ( Mrs Funmi Ajayi) she asked me to wrote another letter to governor through her which i did and  nothing from her too. These are some of my information. I started broadcasting career at OGBC (Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation) in 1995 and I was trained by late Veteran Broadcaster Toba Opaleye. am still freelance with ogbc till present where i anchore programme tittle YUNGBA YUNGBA every wednesday 6pm to 6.45pm on ogbc1. 
In my sports career I represented ogun state in school and state level where i  got many awards and laurels personally.
Among the awards Won are National Secondary School Competition Sponsored by NNPC in 1995 and 1996 where the team won the trophy – Also won First Philip Asiodu Trophy 1997, Won the gold medalist at National Sports Festival held in Imo (1998) and Bauchi (2000) as Gold medalist with Team Ogun in Cricket and won Silver at Edo 2002 National Sports Festival as well.
Likewise, at Club level in cricket he won many accolades with Rocks cricket  Club and many other cricket clubs, his personal awards include the Man of the match JIBOWU CC VS Kings college CC 1997, Feldman of the series at lagos six- aside Cricket tournament 2006, Best batman of the Series at Cricket  Club Committee League  2006/2007 Season and lot more.

Mr Okunade,

I am sorry that you can not make it to our hospital on 26th October.  I can give you another appointment on 24th November.  

In the meantime, it would advisable for you to get the plaster removed by a local doctor in Nigeria as the wound may need dressing.
