ISLAMIC MUSIC STAR, AYELOYUN'S DAY CELEBRATION WAXES STRONGER AS 10TH EDITION HOLDS IN LAGOS

For Islamic music artistes in Nigeria, picking a day in the year and ascribing it to their name for celebration of their career in the entertainment industry, has become a norm. Virtually, every Islamic music star with good followership of fans has such a day they bring people together to wine and dine with them year in, year out. But it is in serious doubt if there is any Islamic artiste in the country today that has had longer years of such celebration, or has remained consistent with it better than the irrepressible Alhaji Qamardeen Odunlami popularly known Ayeloyun.

One of the best ever Islamic artistes the Nigerian entertainment landscape has seen, Ayeloyun has been one artiste that has inextricably keyed into the philosophy expressed by the King of Fuji music, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) in one of his classic albums titled: "Legacy". For those who have not had the opportunity of listening to K1's "Legacy" released many years ago, the summary of the message in the song is that when forerunners in any profession see those coming behind them making efforts to succeed, they should always try to give them the support or the platform to achieve their dreams.

Without mincing words, Ayeloyun's Day Celebration which obviously had its inaugural edition in 2006 has been the undeniable platform from which a good number of Islamic music stars traversing the industry today, not only honed and refined their then latent talents, but also gained their first major industry recognition. The form which the Ayeloyun's Day Celebration takes is such that there is a stage with full music instruments manned by instrumentalists and back-up singers alike, and it would now be left for any budding Islamic artiste confident of themselves to dare mount the stage and showcase their talents for all to see.

And with that arrangement, a good number of stars were born. And, are still being born. For the 2016 edition which held at the Combo Hall, LTV8, Agidingbi Road, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, 5th November, 2016, which came after Ayeloyun waxed an award-winning album earlier in the year entitled: " Fifel'aye", in which Ayeloyun declared that he would no longer be fending for anybody any more but would only be minding his own business strictly, many people thought 2016 Ayeloyun's Day would not feature aspiring artistes like the previous years. But it was not really so as a good number of new talents still graced the stage.

While findings have shown that a good number of those whom Ayeloyun used his platform to help grow in the industry have turned out to be his worst adversaries today, it remained un-Islamic to vent the anger for those who have erred on the innocents. Being an artiste deep in Islamic teachings and doctrines himself, Ayeloyun had obviously seen reasons to thread with caution as regards helping new artistes to grow before that creed was re-echoed to him by the guest lecturer at the event, Alhaji abdulateef Ademoye  (Ya Satar). The Islamic cleric admonished him against not helping others any more. He told him to leave the betrayers to their conscience.

Meanwhile, this year's edition which had most of the guests looking good in Ankara aso-ebi chosen for the event had the likes of Alhaji Mutiu Akaso, one of the proteges of Ayeloyun, stealing the show with electrifying performance, amongst others. And the event also witnessed launching of a new album by Ayeloyun. There was also so much to eat and drink for the guests despite their large number which filled the combined halls to the brim.

Some of the dignitaries who attended were Alhaji Sulaiman Cellullah, Alhaji M.S. Alagbe, Alhaji Shabbas, Azeez Ajobiewe, Hasolad, Alhaji Bayo Sanni (Shabbas) who was turbaned as patron of Ayeloyun Fans' Club, Eluku@40, Alhaji Bola Muse, Decency, Jasfat,Hon. Segun Musa, Alhaji Shakir Adeoye and Alhaja Adeosun to mention a few.

And some of the stars in the Islamic music industry who came to show love to one of their own at the event included: Alhaja Aminat Babalola (Omotayebi), Alhaja Kifayat Singer, Alhaja Modinat Ashabi (Barry Tide), Kehinde Oriyomi, Alfa Mi Ni, Ariyo Producer, Alhaja Azeezat Otibiya and a host of others.
